Deary and Perfect On Ice claim title TRFAM $ 100.000 Shootout

15 August 2026 Off By De Quarter

15/08/2026 -56 combinations in total entered the TRFAM (The Run For A Million) $ 100.000 added Open Shootout competition concluded yesterday in Las Vegas (VS). Early in the class Luca Fappani (VS) and the 5-year-old stallion Wwwdotgunnawhoaya [Gunnatrashya] owned by Barbara Phillips (VS) set the bar at 226,5. That proved to be not enough in the very strong field of competitors. Halfway through the class Fappani was relegated to second place by Gabriel Borges (BRA). With the 10-year-old mare Voodoo Flo Jo [Shiners Voodoo Dr] owned by Dean Raichel (VS) Borges had a beautiful run, setting the top score at 229,5. But even that score proved not to be enough for the title. Shortly thereafter NRHA $ 6 Million rider Casey Deary (USA) entered the arena with the just 5-year-old stallion Perfect On Ice [SG Frozen Enterprize] owned by Amy Medows (USA) under de saddle. From start to finish Deary left nothing to chance and set the top score at 230,5. With the run of Luca Fappani and the 6-year-old gelding Vintage Chex [A Sparkling Vintage], also owned by Phillips, the tension increased for a moment. The run-in and back-up did not look very promising yet, but Fappani regained his composure in the other maneuvers resulting in a 229,5 score and the co-Reserve Champion title together with Borges. The title was for Deary.
The competition was covered by Steven Ross, Taylor Sharidan and Justin Mathison. British Non Pro rider Francesca Sternberg was invited as guest commentator. Sternberg had made a study of the background of the participating riders and horses with the purpose to shift the focus from money and scores to a more personal approach. A valuable addition to the panel.
This panel also covers the real Run For A Million scheduled for this afternoon 18:00 hours local time (Sunday 03:00 CET) . Visit https://therunforamillion.com/ to follow the competition live.
