FEI Championships Reining 2020 canceled

04/05/2020 – In connection with the worldwide COVID-19 situation the FEI World Championship Reining Senior Riders and FEI European Championships Reining Junior- and Young Riders scheduled for July 14 up to and including July 18 at the CS Ranch in Givrins (SUI) have been canceled.
Because Reining is not considered an Olympic discipline the World Championships are scheduled every 2 years, either as a separate event or as part of the FEI World Equestrian Games. The World Equestrian Games are scheduled for 2022 again, but the disciplines Reining and Endurance have not been assigned yet. The World Championships Jumping, Dressage, Para Dressage and Vaulting are scheduled for August 2020 in Herning (DEN); the World Championships Endurance and Driving for September 2022 in Pratoni del Vivaro (ITA).
At the World Equestrian Games 2018 in Tryon (USA) Belgian Bernard Fonck claimed the World Champion title aboard What A Wave [Tidal Wave Jack] owned by Belgian Steve Vannietvelt and Gina de Pauw. Fonck is now entitled to bear this title for a minimum of another 2- or even 4 years.
