FEI and Reining
26/11/2019 – At the General Assembly of the FEI scheduled for November 16-19 in Moskow a number of decisions has been made also effecting the discipline Reining.
FEI and the NRHA have signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ containing -among others- the agreement that Reining remains under the FEI flag.
Starting on January 1, 2021 protective headgear has to be worn by all athletes at all times when mounted at FEI events. This means the traditional dressage- and western head disappear from the scene. Time will tell how this rule will effect the participation at FEI Reining events.
The FEI World Championships, formerly organized in the World Equestrian Games, will take place at multiple venues. The FEI World Championships Jumping, Dressage, Para Dressage and Vaulting have been assigned to a venue in Herning in Denmark and the FEI World Championships Eventing and Driving to a venue in Pratoni del Vivaro in Italy. The FEI World Championship Reining has not been assigned to any venue (yet).
